Part One · Getting Started

Overview and the Daily Cycle

Games settle at 10:00 UTC and the day rolls over at 16:00 UTC. What you submit is an instruction for the next settlement, not a way to rewrite a result that has already happened.

1.1You run the club

In RimAttack you take charge of a professional basketball club for the long haul. You set the tactical direction, develop players, track prospects, strengthen the roster in the free agent market, manage payroll and budgets, and get ready for next season once the current one ends.

Every other club in the league is run by another player. Set your tactics, bid in the market, make deals, and use what you understand about the game to beat them.

1.2When the system settles

Settlement

Games settle at 10:00 UTC. The day rolls over at 16:00 UTC. (The servers run on Taipei time, UTC+8, so that is 18:00 and midnight locally.)

RimAttack is not played in real time. You can check anything and change your settings right up to the deadline; at each daily settlement the system processes the day in one pass, by the same rules for everyone. Most of what you do is arranging things for the next settlement rather than changing a result that has already happened.

A game day works through roughly this order:

  • Scheduled games are played, which updates the play-by-play, box scores, standings, player Fame and head-to-head familiarity.
  • Player condition and stamina move with the games and the calendar, and clubs run their daily finances.
  • The free agent market processes live offers and signings.
  • Automatic scouting runs.
  • Weekly: training, Watchlist upkeep, ageing, Fame and bankruptcy checks.
  • At the end of a season a fuller changeover runs: contracts expire, prospects graduate, rosters are topped up, final standings are locked in, and clubs are promoted or relegated.

1.3When information updates

Some things show up the moment you submit them — a saved tactic, a submitted offer, an adjusted budget. Their effect on the game usually waits for the daily settlement, the weekly pass or the season changeover. The status, results, ledger and scout reports on your pages are all there to help you read what the last settlement actually did.
