13.1Pick a direction and hold it
Early on, choose a clear direction for your club: push for results with the players you have, build around young talent, or take a balanced route between the two. The direction does not have to be permanent, but every signing, training assignment and budget change should be able to answer one question — how does this serve my next goal?
13.2Do not judge on one game or one number
Single-game numbers swing with the opponent and the situation, and abilities and Peak are still coloured by the fog and by genuine uncertainty about development. Before you decide, cross-check several signals: recent numbers, how well you know the player, his contract, his age, his fit and what else the market has.
13.3Leave room for the changeover
A lot of the important changes happen at the season changeover: contracts expire, prospects graduate, clubs move between tiers, rosters are topped up and money carries over. Start reading next season's roster and payroll pages during the season, and you will not find out at the last minute that a key player has no room to re-sign, or that one position has soaked up too many commitments.
13.4The market is a contest, not a shop
Free agents do not simply arrive because you want them. Other real managers are looking at the same players, and every offer carries competition and uncertainty with it. Line up a first choice and a fallback at each position rather than betting everything on one name.
13.5Spend information where it changes a decision
Scouting and probes both cost you. Prioritise the players you might sign, re-sign, develop or hand the club to; when someone no longer fits your direction, stop spending on him. Good scouting is not about collecting the most information — it is about having enough of it at the right moment.
13.6A checklist before each settlement
Before the day settles, run through this quickly:
- Does the next game need a per-game tactic?
- Do the starters, the rotation and everyone's condition still suit this squad?
- Any offers, re-signings or market targets waiting on you?
- Anything on the Watchlist or in your Scout Reports that needs a decision?
- Any new warnings in finances, payroll or budgets?
- Is next season's roster about to lose you a position you cannot cover?
